Marketing Update: Japanese Expansion Growing Strong
The latest edition of The News Feed features an update on our marketing efforts in Japan, where the appetite for Ontario Corn Fed Beef is growing at an amazing pace. The farmer-owned brand is now featured in four Japanese retail chains, and discussions are underway to add another.
Besides meeting with officials from retail chains and meat packing companies, OCFB has been busy working on other ways to expand the brand’s reach in Japan. In July, OCFB was featured at the Ontario Corn Fed Beef and Craft Beer BBQ at the Canadian embassy in Tokyo. More than 100 guests attended the event, which provided educational seminars and samples of Ontario Corn Fed Beef and Ontario craft beers.
OCFB Producers to Host Breakfast on the Farm
This edition also highlights an Ontario Corn Fed Beef family farm in North Gower that will be hosting a free Breakfast on The Farm event this summer. Organized by Farm & Food Care Ontario, the event will be held September 8 on the beef and grain farm owned by Dwight and Ruth Ann Foster and their family – who are the fifth and six generations to live and farm in the Ottawa area.

Promotions featuring Ontario Corn Fed Beef at home and overseas are highlighted in the Summer 2018 edition of The News Feed. In April, we were pleased to team up with a new retail partner in Japan. Lion D’or is a retail chain in Fukushima Prefecture (Province) that includes 76 outlets in the north-central part of the country.
The profile of the Ontario Corn Fed Beef program got a boost from two promotions in the United Arab Emirates. OCFB was featured in a month-long promotion in April at The Club in Abu Dhabi. The second promotion was at the Media Rotana Hotel in Dubai where the luxury, five-star hotel featured Ontario Corn Fed Beef at two of its restaurants, Prego’s and Nelson’s.
Closer to home, our program was thrilled to be featured in Bell Media’s “Fields to Forks” series. The stories shine a brighter light on the agriculture sector in Southwestern Ontario and the people who make it come alive.
In addition to these stories, the issue also features a preview of the Canadian Beef Industry Conference, which is coming to London, Ont. for the first time in August.

The official launch of our brand in China highlighted the recent marketing efforts to expand the sales of Ontario Corn Fed Beef.
Teaming up with our distribution partners, Shanghai Gourmet Garden and JAC International, we attended SIAL in Shanghai, which is recognized as the largest food show in China.
