The latest edition of The News Feed is now available online. The Spring 2016 issue covers the highlights of the 18th annual Beef Industry Convention in London that was proudly hosted by the Ontario Cattle Feeders’ Association.
While a lot has changed in the beef industry in the 15 years since the Ontario Cattle Feeders’ Association launched the Ontario Corn Fed Beef brand, one thing has never changed.
The OCFA has stood by its original blueprint for the farmer-owned program.
As a result, the original principles of the brand are winning over new customers at home and across the world.

A successful collaboration: Ontario Corn Fed Beef ‘is BIG in Japan’
October 6, 2015 – London, Ontario – Ontario Corn Fed Beef, a premium beef brand owned and operated by Ontario beef farmers, has successfully expanded into Japan with product featured in over 40 Kinsho Stores in Osaka, where Ontario Corn Fed Beef is featured as the premium imported beef. This past weekend Ontario Corn Fed Beef, Kinsho Stores, and Canada Beef collaborated on multiple consumer events, each with the goal of communicating the Ontario Corn Fed Beef story.
The first event was a consumer cooking class Ontario Corn Fed Beef and Canada Beef co-hosted in conjunction with Kinsho Stores. The event was held to demonstrate the quality and safety assurances of Canadian beef and to demonstrate the high quality of Ontario Corn Fed Beef to Kinsho consumers who used the label from their meat purchase to register for the event, held at a state of the art culinary facility in Osaka.
During the week of August 25th 2015 Ontario Corn Fed Beef welcomed a delegation of Middle East culinary influencers based out of the United Arab Emirates.
The focus of the event was to share the OCFB brand story, from farm to fork. Guests included world renowned chefs and their distributor partners.
The culinary credibility these select chefs carry will have a long term impact on the perception of Ontario Corn Fed Beef in this growing and valuable export market.
The event was supported by valued and strategic partners within the Canadian industry, including St. Helen’s Meat Packers and Ryding-Regency Meat Packers, as well as numerous Ontario Corn Fed Beef farming families who graciously provided their time and welcomed guests in touring their exceptional operations.

August 25, 2015 – Toronto, Ontario – Ontario Corn Fed Beef, a premium beef brand owned and operated by Ontario beef farmers, is expanding into international markets with strategic partners in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and is poised for potential growth valued at close to one million dollars, or 75MT.
This week a delegation of guests, including world-renowned chefs and distribution partners from the UAE, are gaining a deeper understanding of just what the OCFB brand means. The tour will showcase all the various protocols, processes, and care that go into bringing a consistently great tasting beef to market.
During the week of June 15th 2015 Ontario Corn Fed Beef welcomed a delegation from Japan in which to share the OCFB brand story, from farm to fork.
Guests included members of Kinsho Supermarkets and Prima Meat Packers, who in May began proudly selling Ontario Corn Fed Beef in 33 stores throughout Japan.
The event was supported by valued and strategic partners within the Canadian industry, including: Canada Beef, Beef Farmers of Ontario, Cargill, St. Helen’s Meat Packers, Loblaws, and numerous Ontario Corn Fed Beef farming families who graciously provided their time and welcomed guests in touring their exceptional operations.
The farm to fork tour ensured each critical part of the brand journey was visited.

June 17, 2015 – London, Ontario – Ontario Corn Fed Beef, a premium beef brand owned and operated by Ontario beef farmers, is expanding into international markets with strategic partners in Japan.
This week a delegation of guests, including retail and distribution partners from Japan, are gaining a deeper understanding of just what this brand means. The tour will showcase all the various protocols, processes, and care that go into bringing a consistently great tasting beef to market. The delegation will visit registered Ontario Corn Fed Beef feedlots and partner packing plants for a full farm to fork tour.
“The Premier has issued a challenge to grow Ontario agricultural exports,” says Jim Clark, Executive Director, Ontario Cattle Feeders’ Association. “We’ve already seen incredible growth in our home province, and the partnerships we’ve made in Japan and beyond mean we are meeting this challenge while simultaneously increasing value for our domestic partners and our farmers.”
May 1st saw the launch of Ontario Corn Fed Beef at 33 Kinsho Stores throughout the Osaka Japan market. Initial feedback has been very positive and there is an expectation for significant and rapid growth.
In 2014 Canadian Beef exports to Japan were valued at over $103 million. The growth potential for the Ontario Corn Fed Beef brand in the Japanese market is estimated at more than $15 million annually. The incremental value that is generated by developing this key export market directly supports over 1500 jobs in the meat-processing sector in Ontario alone.
